Largest Labor Union Elects 3 Women of Color to Top Leadership of NEA

On the Fourth of July, the nearly 9,000 delegates of a nearly three million member labor organization elected a Latina and two African-American women to lead them. I interviewed the new president, Lily Eskelsen Garcia and the new secretary-treasurer, Princess Moss, as well as Ohio’s own former OEA president, Patricia Frost Brooks (who helped Moss in her campaign), and well-known local education advocate and former Cleveland Teachers Union activist, Meryl Johnson.
