If You’re Thinking About the Middle East, Try to Get to These Cleveland Events

Ari Shavit, the author of, My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel, has been to Cleveland before and will be here in September again. I had a chance to hear him speak a couple of months ago and it was chilling, because of the content as well as how it resonated with me. (FYI: I lived in Israel for a year through a volunteer program just after college, 1984-1985 and have been back once with my family in the recent past.)

Whether you are turning away from, or find yourself unable to turn away from the violence occurring in Israel and Gaza, I urge you to read up on Mr. Shavit and consider attending one or more of these events. He is a senior correspondent at Haaretz Newspaper in Israel and a member of its editorial board. Here’s an NPR interview with him from November 2013, when his book came out.
