All you have to do is subscribe to the list. Here’s the one to follow for Ohio House of Representatives and here’s the one for Ohio State Senators. If they’ve got a twitter handle, they’re on the list, even the just-elected-not-yet-sworn-in ones. I’ve also put the twitter handles for the Ohio House Dems and the Ohio House GOP on the House list, and the Ohio Senate Dems and the Ohio Senate GOP on the Senators list.
- Click on Lists when viewing someone’s profile (that would be my profile @jillmillerzimon)
- Select which list you’d like to subscribe to (ohhousereps or ohsenators) and click on it to get to the list’s page.
- From the list page, click Subscribe to follow the list. You can follow lists without following the individual users in that list.
Now, you don’t even have to have a Twitter handle to check the list and see the lists. You can bookmark the URLs I’ve listed in the beginning of this post. But if you do have a Twitter handle, all you need to do is subscribe to the list and you’ll be able to access it from your home profile page (click on the gear symbol for the drop down menu that should list “Lists”).
I must give thanks to Stephanie Kreuz of Watchdog Wire – Ohio (her Twitter handle is here). A few months ago, she wrote two posts about our state legislators on Twitter: “Is Your Ohio State Representative On Twitter?” and “Is Your Ohio State Senator on Twitter?” Even though she works with Heritage Action, a rather conservative organization, see how, together, with an eye toward open and transparent government, we can create something that helps everyone?
